LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hardin County Schools approved its largest pay hike in more than 20 years on Thursday.
Teachers will see a 6 percent raise, and hourly employees will get anywhere from $1-$4 more per hour.
The hike will also bump the starting pay for a teacher in Hardin County, up from about $42,000 to $45,000 a year.
Teacher pay is a big part of the conversation as the state of Kentucky deals with fewer people studying and staying in the education field.
A recent report from the National Education Foundation ranked the state in the bottom 10 states for teacher pay.
