LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana University will celebrating the 2024 solar eclipse with a star-studded event.

The university is on the solar eclipse's path of totality on April 8 and will host the Hoosier Cosmic Celebration at Memorial Stadium from 1-5 p.m.

Janelle Monáe, a 10-time Grammy Award-nominated singer, is scheduled to perform after the total eclipse. And actor William Shatner, an Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner, will also deliver a spoken-word performance before the total eclipse.

Shatner became the oldest person to travel to space in 2021. 

Former NASA astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison will also deliver remarks. Jemison was the first woman of color to travel to space.

Tickets are $15 for students and $19 for the general public. Tickets will be available on Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. Feb. 9.
