LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — JCPS high schoolers now have hands-on experience with sideline training techniques at sporting events.
On Tuesday, UofL Health Sports Medicine trainers stopped by Fairdale High School.
Students in the Public Service Academy received a lesson about how to remove a helmet and face mask when an athlete suffers an injury. They also learned techniques for wrist and ankle wraps and how to properly use a sling.
It is all part of an effort to get students interested in health care careers.
This year, UofL Health donated $50,000 to eight JCPS high schools to support equity, inclusion, and diversity in the healthcare field. In addition to Fairdale High School, the other JCPS schools are Seneca High School, J. Graham Brown School, Jeffersontown High School, Waggener High School, Butler Traditional High School, Ballard High School and Iroquois High School.
