LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police paid a visit to a private middle school Tuesday morning.

The students at Nativity Academy met with officers and had the chance to ask questions. The officers spoke about what a day in their lives could look like and the skills they learn at the police academy.

The students also learned how body cameras work and the variety of jobs and career opportunities available at Louisville Metro Police.

"The main purpose of this visit was to raise awareness from both sides, to and from both organizations, to make sure that the police force is aware of our school here and that our kids are aware of the police force, putting a name, face and real personality behind the police," Nativity Academy President Meghan Weyland said.

Nativity Academy is a full scholarship Catholic middle school in downtown Louisville. It offers a private middle school option for students whom tuition is the only barrier.
