LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Free Public Library will offer more than 100 free programs during Spring Break for children.
The library will offer more than 100 free programs and activities for children and teens starting March 29. And with Spring Break approaching, Kristen Williams, who frequents the library once or twice a week with her 10-yearold and 4-year-old, said Wednesday she's looking for some staycation ideas to keep her children busy and learning.
"I think that if we don’t want people to grow up and move out of Louisville, it's important for them to get exposed to the richness that already exists here," Williams said.
The city is using the Louisville Free Public Library to help expose local youth to that richness. There will be hands-on learning programs for children to play, create and explore together, according to a news release Wednesday. The library will offer interactive story times, nature play, a puppet show and STEAM activities across Louisville.
"Fun and learning don’t have to end when school is out," Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release. "We are thrilled to offer these programs at no charge to serve families who need access to safe, engaging, and amazing learning opportunities for young people in every corner of this community."
Families can also see free presentations and performances at the library from Kentucky Shakespeare, the Little Loomhouse, Brightside Louisville, Jefferson Memorial Forest and the Louisville Orchestra.
