LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cell phone video captured a fight between a student and staff member in a Male High School bathroom on Thursday.

In a short, 7-second clip, it shows the Jefferson County Public Schools employee in a fight with a student.

The principal at Male in a letter to families said the fight ended quickly, and no one was hurt. Witnesses said the employee is a school custodian.

JCPS said the employee has been reassigned to a different facility pending the investigation.

Dear Louisville Male Families,

"It’s a priority of mine to keep you informed about what’s happening at our school and with your child’s education. Having accurate information will help dispel any rumors or misinformation you might see on social media.

On Thursday, there was an altercation involving a student and a staff member inside one of our restrooms. The incident ended quickly and nobody was injured. The staff member is being reassigned as part of JCPS’ policies and procedures.

We’ve had a great start to our school year at Male and it’s unfortunate that incidents like these detract from the great work being done inside our building by our teachers and students.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 485-8292."

Sincerely,

Keith Cathey, Principal
