LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The brutal attack onboard a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) bus is now under investigation.
"I'm told by JCPS officials that there's six cameras with audio and video recording on the bus, so they have every angle, but they won't let me see it," Whitney Davis said.
It has been several days since her 12-year-old son, Kionni, was beaten up onboard a JCPS bus. Kionni said it started with a verbal assault in school and escalated into the violent attack.
"They had just entered the highway and entered 71 and he was being attacked by other students," Davis said.
Video shows 12-year-old violently attacked on JCPS bus. The bus driver continued on the route as other students watched, screamed and recorded it with their cell phones.
And Davis is still waiting for answers.
"We met with a member of the JCPS police department," Davis said. "I met with head of security and Mr. Holbrook, I believe, is another official from Kammerer Middle School."
Video shows a student punching and kicking Kionni while others cheered and recorded it with their cellphones. Davis said she went to review the video Monday morning, but it didn't happen.
"They said that they have not been able to get the video yet, that I would have it in the next few days," Davis said.
Davis said she has also questioned why the driver didn't do more.
"I am working on reporting this over to CPS because the bus driver did nothing to stop this incident while it was happening, she never even told the kids to sit down," Davis said. "They have a policy that she's supposed to follow and she didn't."
JCPS won't comment on the incident but a spokesperson released a statement saying, "The bus driver is not driving any routes while the incident is being investigated. We take all situations seriously and will thoroughly investigate."
WDRB also reached out to the head of the bus driver union.
He said in part, "We expect our bus drivers to render aid to the students, follow the district's policies and procedures, call the appropriate resources and authorities in an urgent fashion and to properly document the incident immediately so the perpetrators can be held accountable for their actions."
Davis said while she hasn't received answers, she has been given a copy of the student handbook.
"The student policy is outlined in here on how they handle bullying, they haven't done it," Davis said.
Davis said she has contacted an attorney and pressed charges against the students who attacked her son.
