LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students in Nelson County walked out of class again on Monday in protest against a potential merger that would combine two schools.
Monday morning, about 75 middle school students protested at New Haven School. They returned to class about an hour later.
Protests also took place at My Old Kentucky Home Middle School and at Bloomfield Middle School.
The protests started last week, after Superintendent Wes Bradley introduced the "Connected Campus" plan during a Board of Education meeting. The plan would merge Thomas Nelson and Nelson County high schools. The board voted 3-2 to continue developing the plan.
The district was closed Thursday and Friday because of staffing shortages as teachers and students protested.
Last Thursday, the school district had over 200 vacancies reported after more than 350 Thomas Nelson High School students walked out of class on Wednesday. Schools were also closed Friday because of staffing shortages.
Thomas Nelson High School opened in 2012. There is no timeline for a possible merger.
