LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A teacher at Jefferson County Public Schools is up for America's Favorite Teacher.
Matt Thrasher is a math teacher at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville. He's included in the Reader's Digest America's Favorite Teacher voting contest.
One teacher will win $25,000, a feature in Reader's Digest, a trip to Hawaii and a school assembly with famous scientist Bill Nye.
Thrasher has taught for 27 years.
"What I treasure most, are the many individual student 'aha' moments where something finally clicks," Thrasher said to America's Favorite Teacher. "These little moments would occur weekly, if not daily. Every student would experience these individual moments at some point during the year--beaming, sometimes rushing to show me their work--just to prove to they could accomplish the task at hand. These 'aha' moments are what teaching is all about."

Voting for the top 5 ends Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
