LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of middle and high school students put creativity and innovation on display Saturday at the Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair.

It was the 60th year for the annual event at the University of Louisville. More than 300 students presented projects to a panel of judges, which included WDRB Meteorologist Hannah Strong.

Students' work that was highlighted this year included computer science, biological and environmental sciences, chemistry and engineering. There were more than 20 STEM categories. 

Mayor Craig Greenberg, who is a former winner of the science fair, also spoke to students.

"You all are doing amazing work and I just want to congratulate all of you," Greenberg said. "I know how much hard work, how much time it takes, and just congratulations to everybody for where you have gotten to today."

Students earned prizes for STEM categories and special awards were presented from local sponsors. Winning students move onto state and international events.
