LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of Jefferson County Public Schools students got a chance to explore dozens of different careers Thursday.
Over 50 local businesses were at Junior Achievement's Inspire to Hire event at the Kentucky Expo Center. That included everything from UPS and LG&E, to the Army and BlueOval.
Students learned what various jobs look like, how they can get those jobs and what they need to do during their school career to be successful.
"The goal is to get young people who have passion in particular interests aligned with, perhaps, job opportunities and growth in particular careers, so they're not getting just jobs just for the summer, but taking first steps into an actual career opportunity that they can grow, perhaps over their entire lives," Christopher Manzo, vice chair of Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana.
Over 5,000 students were expected to participate between Thursday and Friday.
