LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky is getting a tech boost.
The University of Kentucky is partnering with Microsoft to expand the responsible use of artificial intelligence across the state.
UK says the collaboration will strengthen learning and health care while giving the university early access to cutting-edge AI tools.
The partnership supports UK’s new Commonwealth AI Transdisciplinary Strategy (CATS AI) and makes Microsoft a corporate partner in the Advancing Kentucky Together Network.
Leaders say UK is among the first universities in the country to roll out a wide-ranging AI framework.
UK developers will use GitHub Copilot to build new tools for the school. Doctors and nurses will use Dragon Copilot to streamline patient care, and researchers will access Microsoft’s Discovery Platform for ongoing studies.
“Microsoft is helping place Kentucky in the lead — not only in early access to powerful tools but in how those tools are applied to solve real challenges,” UK President Eli Capilouto said in a news release.
