LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Fern Creek firefighter was injured battling a house fire in Louisville's Highview neighborhood.

Fire crews were called to the 7200 block of Apple Mill Drive, off Outer Loop, about 7:30 p.m. Saturday on a house fire, according to Fern Creek Fire spokesperson Dewayne Hutchens. When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the home.

While fighting the fire, a Fern Creek firefighter fell through a burnt floor, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Louisville hospital, Hutchens said.

No one else was injured.

Hutchens said it took 25 firefighters about 15 minutes to can control of the fire. The home had smoke and fire damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
