LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The former LMPD school resource officer accused of choking a teenager until he goes limp was in court Monday to be arraigned.
Jonathan Hardin appeared in court wearing a suit and tie. He is now out of jail after paying 10 percent of his $25,000 bond.
Hardin was indicted last week for assault, wanton endangerment and official misconduct for allegedly choking a 13-year-old JCPS student unconscious.
Video shows the teen appearing to push Hardin to the ground in the hallway of Olmsted Academy North in January. The video then appears to show Hardin picking the teen up by his neck and choking him until he goes limp.
The middle-schooler was then dropped to the floor, where he did not move for more than 20 seconds.
Hardin was a resource officer at Olmsted Academy North when it allegedly happened.
In court, a not guilty plea was entered for him. His attorney will not say anything about what is seen in the surveillance video.
"I can't comment on our defense and the comments he may have regarding the evidence or the case," said Brian Butler, Hardin's defense attorney.
Hardin is also charged in another case where he's accused of punching a student at the school. He is also facing a lawsuit.
Hardin was fired from LMPD in March. He is due back in court at the end of May.
