LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Norton West Louisville Hospital is partnering with the YMCA to help people understand blood pressure and ways to reduce the risk of stroke.

The Know Your Numbers event, hosted by the Norton Heart and Vascular Institute, is scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at the Republic Bank Foundation YMCA on West Broadway.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people can come get a blood pressure or blood sugar screening. In addition, there will be exercise classes, hands-only CPR demonstrations and information on stroke prevention and the warning signs to look out for.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every 40 seconds, someone has a stroke. The CDC also said nearly half of adults have high blood pressure, but only about 1 and 4 have it under control.

No registration is required for the event and all services are free.
