LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency on Sunday night as severe winter weather moves across the state.
Temperatures are expected to range from single digits to the teens from Monday through Wednesday, and wind chills are expected to get below zero. There is the potential for ice and snow throughout the state. According to a news release, the state of emergency declaration allows for activation of state resources.
"We continue to ask Kentuckians to stay weather-aware as snow accumulation and below-freezing temperatures continue to sweep through the commonwealth," Beshear said. "Please check goky.ky.gov before you travel, and check in on your neighbors, loved ones and pets."
The state's Emergency Operations Center is preparing to activate to Level 4.
Beshear also activated the state’s price gouging laws to protect families from grossly overpriced goods and services, according to a news release. Consumers can report price gouging to the Office of the Attorney General.
