LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Grayson County man had a special Christmas after taking a quick chance on a Kentucky Lottery game.
On Dec. 21, Nicholas Nelson bought a $2 Silver and Gold 10X Fast Play ticket at a Speedway gas station in Elizabethtown.
The Leitchfield, Kentucky, native said he had a leftover $2 after buying other tickets and decided to buy a Fast Play ticket. He scanned it and saw $73,141 show up on the screen.
"I looked at the ticket and stuffed it in my coat pocket," Nelson said. "I didn't believe it. ... I thought I was going to have a heart attack."
Nelson said his wife had a hard time believing him and thought he was lying when he called her.
"They asked me at work if I was going to work overtime tomorrow and I said, 'Nope,'" Nelson said.
Speedway will get $731.41 for selling the ticket.
