LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear has filed a lawsuit against a Hardin County wedding venue for canceling events and pocketing customers' money.
The lawsuit was filed Wednesday against Gabriella Farm LLC, based in Eastview, Kentucky. The farm is located at 13943 Leitchfield Road, near the interchange between Western Kentucky Parkway and Sonora Hardin Springs Road.
The lawsuit alleges that Gabriella Farm LLC and its owner, Nicolle Thompson, scammed at least seven Kentucky couples out of nearly $30,000 by taking their payments and either canceling their weddings or providing sub-par services.
The couples were from Bullitt, Hardin, Jefferson and Meade counties.
Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that on Sept. 6 and 7, someone from Gabriella Farm LLC called at least three couples with weddings scheduled in September and October and canceled their weddings, claiming that the venue had been sold. The caller also allegedly threatened to sue the couples for defamation if they posted negative social media reviews about the venue.
Beshear's office says the venue was not sold, and was never under contract to be sold.
According to the lawsuit, three couples had weddings at Gabriella Farm LLC, but never received services that had been promised.
The lawsuit accuses Gabriella Farm LLC and Thompson of engaging in deceptive business practices, and demands that the couples' money be returned.
