LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Harvest Homecoming is already working on a safety plan this year after a teen was shot and killed in the festival's ride area.

High school senior Bryce Gerlach died in the shooting at the New Albany festival last October.

Two others were also hurt, and all were innocent bystanders.

The festival posted on social media Friday saying it's working with New Albany Police and the Floyd County Sheriff's Office to keep everyone safe.

Changes include age restrictions in the ride area.

People will have to be 18 or older, and kids will have to be accompanied by someone over 21.

The ride area will also have more fencing and checkpoints. The hours will also change for better crowd flow and security oversight.

This year's booth days are Oct. 9-12.
