LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — West Nile Virus has been confirmed in Clark County, Indiana.
A mosquito that had been trapped tested positive for the virus, the Clark County Health Department confirmed in a Facebook post Friday.
The health department said due to the discovery, crews will be spraying adulticide "to knock down the adult popula tion" in neighborhoods within a half mile radius from where the positive mosquito was found.
The health department said the "Ultra Low Volume" spray is not dangerous to human or small animals.
Signs will be placed in the affected areas to be sprayed. Spraying will happen around desk and when other pollinators aren't active. The health department warns if you have bee hives to register their locations here. Spraying will not occur near hive areas.
