LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — TARC riders should expect delays and adjustments starting Monday if they travel near the Interstate 65 construction closure.
Some say buses already run late and it will only get worse. I-65 will close June 1 between Jefferson Street and Interstate 264.
David Jones rides TARC Route 10 every day. He said it takes him all the way up West Broadway, then he goes to Brook Street and over to the Salvation Army.
He knows delays for TARC are only going to get longer once I-65 shuts down Monday.

"Standing here, it says 13 minutes on this bus," Jones said. "That’s if it’s on time. With the delays coming up, you can’t depend on that."
TARC director of transportation Bruce Withers said they’ll use daily detour sheets and live updates through the TARC app to keep riders like Jones in the know.
TARC officials have been in constant contact with crews working on the project.
"The staff is working diligently to ensure that our riders get where they need to go in a timely manner, but we do know that there are going to be delays," Withers said.
Withers said bus stops affected by the detours will be reassigned to other locations.
"They’re going to communicate to us when they’re going to shut down certain corridors," Withers said. "We’re going to have planned detours that will already be in place, so when they shut down Broadway, we know to go over to X."
But some TARC riders expect the closure to be difficult.
"Earlier, if I had to go so many places, I wouldn’t mind walking a few blocks to get to where I need, but now, in this heat, it’s pretty hard," Jones said.
Officials with the I-65 Central Corridor project said the closure is being done all at once to save "at least a year of additional restrictions and construction delays."
"They say it’s a couple of months, but I don’t foresee it," TARC rider Frankie Cousins said. "When has anything ever only taken a couple of months?"
