LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Elizabethtown woman matched the right five numbers and won $2 million by playing the Kentucky Lottery.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, played the Kentucky Lottery Powerball in December. According to a news release Wednesday, the jackpot was estimated to be $572 million for the Dec. 20 drawing. She won the game's second prize of $1 million by matching the five white ball numbers.

She decided to add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per set of numbers, which doubled her winnings to $2 million.

"I'm so glad I did," she said to Kentucky Lottery officials. "I always play Power Play."

She didn't know she had the winning ticket until she stopped at a store on her way home from work Dec. 23.

"I scanned it and saw the number come up and it said, 'See KLC,'" she said. "I scanned it again, and so I said, 'Well, I guess that means I hit the five numbers but not the Powerball.'"

She admitted to being in shock.

"I put it back in my purse and continued on with my business to get the next ticket," she said. "I'm still soaking it in."

She waited until after the holidays to cash it in. She went to Kentucky Lottery headquarters last week, receiving $1.44 million after taxes.

"It was a blessing in disguise," she said.

She plans to use the winnings on home renovations.

The Five Star on North Dixie in Radcliff received $20,000 for selling the winning ticket.
