LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Someone in Valley Station hit a Powerball pay day on Christmas night!

In a news release Tuesday, the Kentucky Lottery said a Powerball ticket worth $100,000 was purchased at Rhythm Food Mart on Valley College Drive for the Dec. 25 drawing.

The winning ticket matched four white ball numbers and the Powerball, which would normally win $50,000, but the ticket added the Power Play feature, which doubled the amount.

The Powerball numbers from Monday night were: 5 – 12 – 20 – 24 – 29 Powerball 4

Kentucky Lottery officials advises the winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a secure location. The prize must be claimed within 180 days.

To claim a prize call the Kentucky Lottery at 1-877-789-4532 and make an appointment. Lottery headquarters is at 1011 W. Main St. in Louisville.

No one won the Powerball jackpot Monday night, so the jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is now worth at least $685 million.

According to the Kentucky Lottery website, there hasn't been a big jackpot collected in Kentucky since there were two in 2010.

In January 2010, a Georgetown couple, Rob and Tuesday Anderson, won after a clerk at the Pro Stop Marathon incorrectly printed a Powerball ticket for Rob on Christmas Eve 2009. The mistake ticket ended up hitting the game’s $128.6 million jackpot.

In December 2010, Knott County native and Louisville resident Muncie Meade won the Powerball worth $19.12 million.

There are nine ways to win the Powerball:

  • Match 5 + Powerball = $680 million jackpot
  • Match 5 + No Match = $1,000,000
  • Match 4 + Powerball = $50,000
  • Match 4 + No Match = $100
  • Match 3 + Powerball = $100
  • Match 3 + No Match = $7
  • Match 2 + Powerball = $7
  • Match 1 + Powerball = $4
  • No Match + Powerball = $4

Powerball's terrible odds of 1 in 292.2 million are designed to generate big jackpots, with prizes becoming ever larger as they repeatedly roll over when no one wins.
