JASPER, Ind. (WDRB) -- A young Southern Indiana boy lands a spot in the hunting record books.
Fox 59 reports that Cohen Werne of Jasper shot a 26-pound turkey during a spring hunting trip with his dad. It ended up being the largest bird taken during the state's 2018 turkey hunting season.
Cohen was just 6 years old at the time, but has since turned seven.
The turkey weighed 26.25 pounds and had 4 beards, which are long bristles that grow from the animal's breast.
The National Wild Turkey Federation gave Cohen a certificate on Tuesday for his prize bird.
