LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Â An Indiana family that was reported missing Friday has been found safe.
That's according to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff's Office.Â
Clark County deputies responded to a missing persons report Friday, after the family did not return home from swimming in a nearby creek off of Marion Martin Road. The Charlestown Fire Department, Indiana Conservation officers, and Indiana State Police aided in the search.
Due to poor weather conditions, drone operations were limited and the search was conducted by boat.Â
Around 1:13 a.m. Saturday, an adult and two children were found safe on a small island in the creek by one of the searchers, according to the release.Â
The family was unable to swim out because of the creek's swift currents and darkness.Â
Conservation officers finally reached them and brought them to safety.Â
"This is a great example of interagency cooperation and the professionalism of our first responders. We are thankful for a successful outcome and grateful that everyone was found safe," said Sherriff Scottie Maples.Â
