LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana National Guardsmen ended their severe winter weather response mission Tuesday.
They were deployed throughout the state to offer support in central and southern Indiana during the winter weather.
According to a news release Tuesday, nearly 300 Indiana National Guard soldiers and airmen were activated to work alongside Indiana State Police, the Indiana Department of Transportation and Indiana Department of Homeland Security throughout the event.
They provided coverage along U.S. 41 from Evansville to Vincennes, Interstate 64 from New Albany to Evansville, Interstate 65 from New Albany to Columbus and Interstate 69 from Evansville to Bloomington.
Officials said personnel conducted 192 engagements with motorists, assisted 87 vehicles, transported 16 stranded motorists and encountered 83 vehicles that declined assistance.
There were no serious injuries from the winter weather reported to the Indiana National Guard.
