LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Transportation officials provided a better idea Wednesday of how a new intersection will work in Floyd County, Indiana.
Right now, U.S. 150 at Old Vincennes Road East in Floyds Knobs is a construction zone.
The Indiana Department of Transportation posted a video on social media with an animation showing how the intersection will work once construction is complete, which is expected to be in November.
Drivers on Old Vincennes will only be able to turn right onto U.S. 150 using two turn lanes. The INDOT plan calls for the closure of the median drivers currently use to turn left onto 150 from Old Vincennes.
A traffic light will be put in the intersection. Drivers wanting to turn left toward Interstate 64 will turn right, then go a short way before making a U-turn to go back toward the interstate.
Drivers on 150 wanting to turn onto Old Vincennes will also have a light. INDOT said the work should reduce accidents and improve traffic flow.
The work being done is between Little Indian Creek and the Interstate 64 interchange—more specifically, between Highlander Point and Wesley Chapel UMC.
