LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Drivers who take US 150 in Floyd County will soon be left without the option to turn left at a busy intersection.

The plan is to close the median that drivers use to turn left onto US 150 from Old Vincennes Road. Indiana Department of Transportation officials said a traffic light will be put in the intersection, and drivers coming from Old Vincennes Road will have to turn right onto 150.

Those drivers will then be able to make a U-turn to go back toward Interstate 64. Taking a left will no longer be an option.

"This project is known as a reduced conflict intersection," said Sidney Nierman with the Indiana Department of Transportation. "Reduced conflict intersections are put in place to help reduce the amount of left turns that must be taken across multiple lanes of traffic, ultimately reducing the amount of conflict points."

During construction, US 150 will periodically be down to one lane in both directions.

We're told work should wrap up in November.
