LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā A Lexington man received a surprise when he found out he was a winner in Saturday night's Powerball.
The man, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Kentucky Lottery officials he plays the Powerball often, and bought the winning ticket from the Kroger on Euclid Avenue in Lexington.
After the drawing, the man and his wife began checking the ticket.
āMy wife called the numbers off to me and I couldnāt believe it! After about five times, it dawned on me that it matched,ā he said.Ā
His ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball in the drawing on Sept. 7.Ā
When the couple looked up the prize payout, they were still in shock.
āIt took a while for it to really set in that I won off a Quick Pick for $2,ā he said. āItās a great feeling. Iāve always wanted to win something.ā
The man received $36,000 after taxes, and said he plans to put some of the money in savings and invest it.
Kroger will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
