LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Wednesday is "High Attendance Day" for Jefferson County Public Schools, and officials say it is a competition across the state.
Awards will be determined across the state based on each individual school's performance, regardless of the performance of its district as a whole.
On "High Attendance Day" elementary, middle or high schools may compete in small school or large school categories.
The school in each category with the highest attendance percentage for that day will be awarded $500.
Officials say attendance percentages for winning schools in the past have ranged in the 99 to 100% range. Officials also say reaching perfect attendance at each school will be the goal.
