LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fern Creek High School will make some changes for football games starting Friday aimed at keeping everyone safe.
Fern Creek families were notified Wednesday that anyone under 18 — if they're not accompanied by a legal guardian — must have a student ID for Fern Creek or the opposing high school.
Everyone will be wanded with a metal detector before entering the stadium. And once guests leave, they won't be allowed to return.
Masks, backpacks or any other bags are not allowed, with the exception diaper bags, which will be searched. And Jefferson County Public Schools police officers will monitor all parking lots before, during and after the events.
"We believe that these measures will lead to a more enjoyable event for those in attendance," Fern Creek administrators said in an email to parents Wednesday.
The changes likely stem from a double shooting Sept. 29 outside Pleasure Ridge Park High School during a football game. Two juveniles were shot, and one of the victims, a 17-year-old boy, rushed to UofL Hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times. He died Tuesday.
Louisville Metro Police spokesman John Bradley said LMPD's Homicide Unit continues to investigate, but no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the LMPD tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Callers can remain anonymous.
