LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office unveiled new patrol cars on Thursday.
The cars are black, instead of the tan color on the older vehicles.
The sheriff's office wanted the public to know what the new fleet looks like before the cars are officially deployed in the coming weeks.
"Ford no longer offers the color package of the familiar tan and brown sheriff's vehicles that you saw in the past," Chief Deputy Col. Steve Healey said. "So, going to the black vehicle it actually saves money and we don't have to buy a car and then bring it in and have it repainted and things like that. And Ford (is) always going to offer this color package, so we're also gonna be able to get our vehicles quicker."
The new vehicles also have some new features, including hands-free technology, to help deputies while they're driving.
Seized money from drug busts helped pay for the vehicles.
