LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Plans to build homes at Golf View Estates have been shot down by the Jeffersonville City Council.

Hoosier Fairway Investments wanted a zoning change next to the golf course on Charlestown Pike to construct homes in four separate areas.

However, many residents showed up to Monday's council meeting to voice their opposition.

Some residents said traffic would be a problem and property values would go down. One homeowner said the proposed site gets so wet during heavy rain that lawn mowers get stuck.

"The mowers actually sink," a Jeffersonville homeowner said. "I've had the joy of watching them pull them out. And I guess the question that comes to mind is if that ground can't support a lawn mower, how is it going to support a house?"

The council voted down the development plans in four separate votes for each area where a zoning change had been requested to build homes.
