LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Drivers who use the Kennedy Bridge should brace for a longer detour.
State transportation officials say weather delays and unexpected repairs are keeping the Interstate 65 South to Interstate 64 West ramp closed longer than planned.
The ramp, closed since Nov. 18, is now expected to stay last until at least January 2026.
Crews are replacing expansion joints on the right side of the bridge, with the right three lanes and right shoulder also closed.
Once that work is finished, contractors will shift to the left side of the bridge, requiring closure of the left three lanes. Traffic changes will be announced.
Work is expected to be completed next fall, with lane closures continuing as needed.
