FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDRB)Â --Â Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that his office's Violent Crime Reduction Team has secured a conviction and two new felony indictments in Jefferson County.
That's according to a news release from the attorney general's office.Â

Cody Cahill, 35, pleaded guilty in Jefferson Circuit Court to possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, a Class C felony, on Sept. 30. He was arrested after police found him with a handgun in the parking lot of an unlocked storage facility during a security check, according to the release.
Cahill, who has prior felony convictions, is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 17. He faces five years in prison.
The case was investigated by the St. Matthews Police Department.
Felony Indictments
Separately, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted two men in unrelated cases.

Dorian Lovett, 19, from was indicted on charges of first-degree assault, complicity, and first-degree wanton endangerment for his connection to a non-fatal shooting near Fairdale in May. LMPD arrested Lovett in July.Â
Stephen Brandon Barker, 38, was indicted on one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, one count of fleeing or evading police in the third degree and two traffic violations. That case was investigated by University of Louisville Police.

Coleman joined Louisville leaders in October 2024 to announce the creation of the Attorney General’s Violent Crime Reduction Team, a first-of-its-kind collaboration among their offices to combat violent crime in Louisville. He also opened an office in downtown Louisville, according to the release.
The office is staffed by three prosecutors and a detective. It focuses on prosecuting non-fatal shootings and convicted felons illegally in possession of handguns.Â
