More than 1 million Hoosiers have a suspended driver's license. And about 80% of those cases are tied-up in fees that people can't afford to pay.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking input as it looks at making improvements to a three-mile section of Louisville's Outer Loop.

A planning study, called the "Outer Loop Transportation Study," will evaluate potential improvements to the road between Interstate 65 and Shepherdsville Road (KY 2052).

KYTC's study will "identify short-term and long-term highway safety and mobility enhancements for the roughly three-mile corridor."

As part of the study, the agency will conduct a full analysis of the corridor's current conditions. Those results will help them come up with solutions to enhance safety, ease congestion and improve traffic flow.

The study will be conducted over a three-mile portion of the Outer Loop starting at Minor's Lane, over I-65 and through the Preston Highway intersection to Shepherdsville Road.

A public meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 10, will give residents a chance to look at current conditions and provide feedback on potential improvement plans.

The meeting will be held as an open house from 5-7 p.m. at the South Central Regional Library on Jefferson Boulevard. The public is invited to drop by any time for handouts with information and to provide input. A survey will also be conducted, which will go live online for drivers to take following the Sept. 10 meeting.

Feedback gathered through the survey and at the public meeting will help KYTC develop potential concepts.
