LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A dental office in Louisville will provide free care to children and their families with little to no insurance this month.

Ruby Dental & Braces at 3510 Bardstown Road will host the 10th annual Sharing Smiles Day from 9 a.m. to noon May 18. Families in need of dental exams, limited emergency care, extractions, restorative care or cleanings can register in advance by clicking here.

The event is open to children up to age 18 and adults who don't have Medicaid or other forms of dental insurance.

Benevis, a dental health care and orthodontics delivery organization, holds the event nationally each year.

"Ruby Dental & Braces believes every child and adult deserves a healthy smile, no matter their socioeconomic circumstance," Dr. Peter Igoe, district dental director at Benevis, said in a news release Tuesday. "That's why our clinical and administrative teams have donated their time to volunteer for Sharing Smiles Day on May 18, 2025, providing free dental care to Louisville community members who need it most."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports untreated cavities were almost three times more common in children aged 2 to 5 years old living in low-income compared to higher income households.
