LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A 20-year-old man is in custody after a man was shot and killed inside a home in Prospect Monday night.Â
Louisville Metro Police homicide detectives arrested James Small on Tuesday afternoon and charged him with manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence.Â
The charges come after 23-year-old Charl E. Hertzog was shot and killed around 11:30 p.m. Monday inside the home in the 6400 block of Duroc Avenue. That's off River Road, near U.S. 42.Â
Police said when officers arrived, they found Hertzog with a gunshot wound. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to his arrest citation, Small turned himself in Tuesday and confessed to the shooting. He told police he ran away after the shooting, "disposed of the rifle" used in the shooting and admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana prior to the incident.
