LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Louisville men were headed home after seeing a concert in Cincinnati, when they stopped for a bathroom break along Interstate 71. They ended up buying a ticket that won $50,000.

In a news release Thursday, Kentucky Lottery officials said Michael Brown and Steve Conley had just seen the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, when they stopped in Verona on the way home. They walked inside the Verona Hop Shop and noticed the high Powerball jackpot.

"I normally don’t even play, but for some reason, I decided I wanted a Quick Pick," Brown told lottery officials. "So he's like, 'Well, I'll buy one too.' I said, 'Dude, we'll split it.'"

The next day, Brown and Conley checked the ticket and were shocked to see it won the $50,000 third prize. Their ticket matched the first four numbers and the Powerball on the Dec. 30 drawing.

"He pulled out his phone, looked at it, and he started shaking," Conley said.

"I just took the ticket, put it in my pocket, and kept my hand on it," Brown added. "I told him, 'There's no way I can concentrate on buying junk, when I've got $50,000 in my pocket.'"

They went to Kentucky Lottery headquarters a few days later and claimed their winnings. They told lottery officials they plan to recover from Christmas spending and put the rest into savings.

The Verona Hop Shop will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
