FOURTH STREET MENORAH LIGHTING

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Jewish community asked for acts of kindness after the terrorist attack during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.

Light Up Louisville with Acts of Goodness is scheduled for Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Forth Street Live! in downtown Louisville.

A Menorah lighting and community program will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The city's Jewish community plans to make Tuesday's party bigger and better than ever following the attack at Bondi Beach that killed 15 people.

Every person participating will be asked to serve as a light and perform an act of goodness and kindness.

The suspects in the shooting, according to The Associated Press, were a father and son, aged 50 and 24. The father, whom officials identified as Sajid Akram, was shot and killed. His son was being treated at a hospital.

Political and law enforcement leaders on Tuesday called the shooting "a terrorist attack inspired by Islamic State."

There are 25 people still being treated in hospitals after Sunday’s massacre, 10 of them in critical condition. Three of them are patients in a children's hospital.

Those killed ranged in age from 10 to 87 years old. They were attending a Hanukkah event at Australia's most famous beach Sunday when the gunshots rang out.
