LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville mother has filed a lawsuit against two security guards and the principal of Butler High School, accusing them of allowing her son to be beaten up at school.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Jefferson Circuit Court, claims security guards at the school knew the attack was coming, but did nothing to stop it.
According to a news release accompanying the lawsuit, the attack was recorded by students and was shared on "numerous" social media sites.
The lawsuit alleges the student's entire family and their friends were threatened on social media by the alleged attacker. It also claims that student was kicked out of two other Jefferson County Public Schools for attacking students, but was allowed to transfer to Butler where he remains.
The victim in the Butler case said he was not able to finish his last semester of high school after the incident, and also missed prom. The victim's sister also did not return to Butler after the incident.
It's a suit brought by Teddy Gordon, the Louisville attorney who fought the district's Student Assignment Plan all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. In a statement Wednesday, Gordon said he's filed over 60 bullying cases against JCPS, but claims "still nothing has been done to set a bullying policy."
