LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new Hometown Hero banner was installed Thursday in Louisville's Bashford Manor neighborhood in honor of the best professional golfer to hail from the city.

The banner shows Justin Thomas, a Goshen native and graduate of St. Xavier High School, holding the Wanamaker Trophy after winning the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club. The win was Thomas' second major championship to go along with — as of May 2024 — his 15 other PGA Tour wins.

The banner is located on the Watterson City Park Towers on Bishop Lane.

A formal ceremony to unveil the Hometown Hero banner is planned for Monday. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and Ryan Ogle, championship director for the upcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, are scheduled to be in attendance.
