LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — City workers are trying to keep you safe on the roads this spring with its Pothole Blitz.

You'll be seeing more crews out there fixing potholes. Mayor Craig Greenberg said there are 11 teams of five that work across the city.

"Just a giant thanks to everyone on the public works team that keeps our city functioning so well and looking so great," Mayor Greenberg said. "It looked great for Derby 150. It's looking great for the PGA Championship week and it's continuing to look great the rest of the spring and summer."

Since the beginning of this year, more than 23,000 potholes have already been filled. The city said it fills on average 40,000 potholes a year.

The annual event is held every spring to encourage residents to report road damage caused during winter months.

To report a pothole, call Metro 311 at (502) 574-5000, download the Metro 311 app or online by clicking here.
