LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is dead after a crash on the 2nd Street Bridge Thursday evening.

John Bradley, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said officers responded to the 2nd Street Bridge on a reported crash just after 6:15 p.m.

Bradley said a moped was traveling north on the bridge when it hit a curb, lost control and hit a truss of the bridge. The man driving the moped was not wearing a helmet.

Life-saving measures were given to the driver, but Bradley said he died at the scene.

The bridge was closed while LMPD's Traffic Unit investigated. According to MetroSafe, the bridge reopened around 8:15 p.m. Thursday.
