LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Valley Station Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to Valley Station Road and Grafton Hall Road just before 3:30 p.m. on a reported crash, Louisville Metro Police Spokesperson John Bradley said in a statement. That's off Dixie Highway, after Deering Road.

Once on scene, officers found a Jeep and a motorcycle that had crashed. Investigators believe the Jeep was headed west on Valley Station Road when the driver attempted to make an opposing left-hand turn onto Grafton Hall Road and hit the motorcyclist, Bradley said.

The man driving the motorcycle was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep was taken to a local hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation into the crash, which Bradley said is ongoing. No charges have been filed. The identity of the man who died will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
