LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville has been taking a different approach to innovation, and Mayor Greg Fischer says it's paying off.

It's the result of a nearly $5 million grant the city received in 2011 from Bloomberg Philanthropies.  The partnership is to bring a new approach to innovation in city government.

Those innovations were spotlighted on Friday.

The mayor says new ideas are leading to increased recycling, reduced animal euthanasia rates, and the creation of jobs through exports.

The grant ends next year, but Mayor Fischer says the city plans to continue its mission.
