LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's annual Memorial Day Hike, Bike and Paddle has been canceled this year.

The mayor's Hike, Bike and Paddle event was traditionally held twice each year, on Memorial Day and Labor Day. The office of Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said it canceled the event for Memorial Day weekend only.

"We have so many incredible events across our city during Memorial Day weekend that we want to support, not compete with, so we are going to focus all our resources this year into one Hike, Bike and Paddle event during Labor Day weekend and make it the biggest and best it’s ever been," the Mayor's office released in a statement.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 27 this year. Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 2.

Hike, Bike and Paddle encourages exercise and outdoor activities.
