LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The town of Clarksville honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

The annual Memorial Day ceremony was held Sunday at the Clarksville Fire Station. The theme for this year's event was the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

The Clarksville Police Honor Guard also attended the service to honor the memory of the soldiers who died defending their freedom.

"We reflect on the ultimate sacrifice that they made so that we may enjoy the life in which each of us know and we give thanks for their belief in the United States, it's institution of democracy and for everything that it stands for," Clarksville Town Council President Ryan Ramsey said.

Taps was also played and there was a ceremonial wreath laying.
