LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Milton Fire and Rescue now has a new captain, and she's making history.

Emily McQueary was just promoted as the department's safety captain, overseeing important initiatives to ensure firefighter safety and operational readiness. She is also the department's first female officer. 

McQueary began her career with Milton Fire and Rescue in 2004 as a junior firefighter at the age of 16. At 18, she became a firefighter and president and secretary-treasurer for the department. McQueary has earned several awards, completed various certifications and is also an EMT.
