Fire 1700 block of Hale Avenue - Oct. 8, 2024

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- No one was hurt in two house fires on Tuesday around Louisville, according to Louisville Fire.

Louisville Fire spokesperson Capt. Donovan Sims said firefighters went to a house fire in the 1700 block of Hale Avenue near Dixie Highway around 5:30 p.m. When crews arrived on scene, they found a one-story residential duplex with fire and smoke coming from the rear.

Twenty-five firefighters brought the fire under control within 15 minutes, according to Sims. The home was vacant, and no one was injured.

Earlier in the day, Louisville Fire went to a house fire in the 2900 block of South 4th Street, near Churchill Downs, around 12:40 p.m.

There was a one-and-a-half story home with smoke showing when firefighters arrived on scene. Sims said firefighters encountered "hoarder-like conditions" which make firefighting efforts difficult.

The fire was brought under control in around 20 minutes with 32 firefighters. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Louisville Fire Department Arson Unit is investigating both fires.
